Erie man charged with possessing stolen gun

Erie police said they seized a stolen gun and took one man into custody when officers went to investigate a report of someone attempting to break into vehicles on the city's east side early Saturday morning.

Vante R. Husband, 19, of the 400 block of East 14th Street, is accused of possessing a stolen Smith and Wesson 9 mm gun, with its serial number obliterated, that police said they saw him throw to the ground when officers were called to the area of East 18th and Wallace streets on Saturday at about 12:50 a.m. Husband threw the gun while running from officers, police said.

Husband was arraigned before Erie 5th Ward District Judge Joseph Lefaiver and was placed in the Erie County Prison on $15,000 bond.
