A sleeping 7-year-old boy was shot in the leg during a party at his North Philadelphia house early Saturday, and police said they were looking for the shooter.

"He was sleeping on the second floor, and there was a gunshot on the third floor" of the house in the 1700 block of N. 27th Street, a detective said.

The bullet went through the floor and the second-floor ceiling and struck the boy in his left leg, police said.

The boy was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said. His name was withheld because of his age.

There were about 20 people in the house near Cecil B. Moore Avenue when the shot was fired shortly after midnight, police said. As of mid-afternoon, police were still inteviewing them.

The boy lives in the three-story house with his parents.
