A 21-year-old man has been charged with killing a Penn Hills resident Friday night during a botched robbery.
Allegheny County homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Frank Donte Booker, 21, of the 1200 block of Blackadore Avenue, Penn Hills. He remained at large Saturday.
Mr. Booker is charged with homicide and related crimes in the slaying of Calvonne Rollins, 20, who was shot multiple times around 10:30 p.m. after driving the suspect to the block where he lived. Mr. Rollins was pronounced dead at UPMC Presbyterian 17 minutes after the shooting, according to an affidavit supporting the arrest warrant.
Detectives reported that Mr. Rollins was driving a Cadillac Escalade with several passengers, including a 1-year-old baby, when he stopped on Crab Hollow Road to pick up Mr. Booker, who asked to be driven to Blackadore Avenue. Once there, he told Mr. Rollins to pull over, pulled a silver handgun out of his waistband and ordered the victim to "throw it off."
Detectives said Mr. Rollins pushed the gun away and he and a passenger tried to get the gun away from Mr. Booker. Mr. Booker freed himself, fired a shot in Mr. Rollins' direction, got out of the vehicle and continued to fire into the SUV, striking the victim.
In addition to homicide, Mr. Booker also is charged with robbery, reckless endangerment and a weapons charge.
