Police arrested a York City man for allegedly firing a gun in Penn Park Saturday night, then punching an officer trying to arrest him.

Nathaniel Oliver, 25, of 25 W. Jackson St., is charged with aggravated assault on an officer, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, possession of a small amount of marijuana and carrying a firearm without a license.

Officers were dispatched to Penn Park about 10:50 p.m. for a report of a man firing a gun there. Police obtained a description of the gunman, and Officer Christopher Roosen spotted the man -- Oliver, police said -- in the 200 block of East South Street.

Oliver took off and Roosen chased him and caught him, at which point Oliver punched Roosen in the head, according to York City Police.

No one was struck by the bullets fired in the park, police said.
