An East Manchester Township man was shot in his buttocks Wednesday evening in York City.

York County 911 received a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Front Street about 6:10 p.m. and a short time later received a call for a gunshot victim near the intersection of North and North George streets, according to York City Police.

However, responding officers could not find a shooting victim at the intersection, police said.

Officers later learned shooting victim Jai Woodyard, 19, of Rosemary Court, was already at York Hospital. He had suffered a bullet wound to his buttocks that isn't life-threatening, police said.

Police said Woodyard flagged down a passing vehicle, which drove him to the hospital.

Woodyard was in satisfactory condition Thursday morning, a hospital spokesman said.

Police said it appears Woodyard was shot in the 600 block of Front Street as he sat in a vehicle. That's the location where officers were able to verify shots had been fired, police said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call detectives at 849-2219, or call the city's anonymous crime tip line, 849-2204. Or anonymously text a tip to YORKTIPS at 847411.
