A Canton Township man was arrested Wednesday on accusations he fired several rounds from a handgun into a pickup truck and then struck it twice with his car Jan. 7 following a disturbance at a North Franklin Township bar.
State police charged Robert D. Huggins, 34, of 340 Moon Road, with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and criminal mischief in connection with the incidents that began at closing time at Club 40, 3390 W. Chestnut St., court records show.
Police were called to the business after the shots were fired into a vehicle driven Nicholas Swierczek after he and Huggins left the bar and continued the disturbance outside, police stated.
Huggins allegedly attempted to punch Swierczek through his truck window, while several other people began to throw rocks, breaking its windows, police stated in the affidavit.
Swierczek sped off across Route 40 and onto McKee Road. Police said Huggins followed Swierczek and crashed his car into the man’s pickup truck there and again while Swierczek attempted to turn around at Hewitt Road, the court record indicates.
Huggins is further accused of leaving and eventually hiding his damaged vehicle in garage at 134 Mounts Valley Road, where police found it March 26.
Police also learned the shell casings found at the scene were shot from a .45-caliber gun similar to one in the Huggin’s possession, the affidavit states.
Huggins is free on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Redlinger.
