Chester police confirmed there were two shootings in less than 30 minutes in the city, the first one taking place at about 2:10 p.m. None of the shootings resulted in fatalities, according to police.
The first shooting took place in the 1100 block of Culhane Street, where numerous shots were fired and one victim was reported down. The victim, a 17-year-old black male, suffered gunshot wounds to his right side, hand and buttocks. About 20 minutes later a second victim in the first shooting, a 22-year-old black male, was dropped off near Crozer-Chester Medical Center grounds. Paramedics were then dispatched and the second victim was taken to the Crozer-Chester emergency room. Both victims were listed in stable condition Saturday night. Then, according to police, at about 2:37 p.m., another shooting occurred in the 400 block of Rose Street. A 13-year-old male was coming out of a house to help his grandfather wash cars when he was grazed under his left armpit by gunfire about a half a block away. He was taken to Crozer-Chester and treated and released.
Chester detectives and the crime scene unit responded to assist in the investigation of these incidents. The motive for the shootings remains under investigation.
