An altercation in a city parking garage early Sunday led to the shooting death of one man and the arrest of his alleged killer.
Police identified the slain man as Pablo Luis Fuentes, 28, of the 400 block of South Lime Street.
Charged in Fuentes' death was Jose Enrique "Cachi" Lebron-Garcia, 22, whose last known address was in the 400 block of Dauphin Street
According to police, both men left Club Paradise in the Hotel Brunswick, 151 N. Queen St., shortly before 2 a.m.
Police said Lebron-Garcia got into an argument with a group of people accompanying Fuentes while they were in a stairwell of the city-owned Duke Street Garage, which is attached to the hotel.
Police said Lebron-Garcia pulled out a gun and fired, striking Fuentes several times in the upper torso.
City police officers responded to the scene a short time later and caught Lebron-Garcia allegedly trying to escape through the garage entrance on East Chestnut Street.
At the time, police said, Lebron-Garcia simply was detained as a suspect.
Multiple witnesses who were later interviewed at the city police station identified Lebron-Garcia as the shooter, according to police.
Fuentes was still alive when police arrived at the garage.
He was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 5:30 a.m.
Lebron-Garcia was arraigned on one count of criminal homicide Sunday night before District Judge Jayne F. Duncan. He was sent to Lancaster County Prison without bail.
