LOGANTON - A woman allegedly robbed First National Bank, East Main Street, Loganton, at gunpoint Thursday, and is still at large, state police at Lamar said.
The robbery occurred between 2:30 and 3 p.m. when a white, non-Hispanic female with blonde hair walked into the bank, showed a bank teller a note and displayed a handgun, police said. She then left the bank, ran up Route 477 on foot, and jumped into a red or maroon SUV, police said.
According to the Clinton County Communications Center, the alleged robber is believed to have gotten into the SUV with two males of unknown race. The SUV is described as an older model, possibly foreign.
The three took off in an unknown direction, police said. The female, who police said is armed, wore a light blue shirt, blue jeans and had a tattoo with the word "love" on the left side of her neck.
State police at Lamar and a Forensic Services Unit from Montoursville were on the scene until 5:30 p.m. Police helicopters could be seen canvassing the skies over the usually quiet Sugar Valley as they searched for the assailant on foot. Both schools in the area, the Sugar Valley Elementary School and the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, went into lockdown procedure and postponed dismissal of all students until they were released by police, according to state police at Lamar. Trooper Matthew McDermott, from the Lamar Barracks, is the lead investigator on the case. Police urged the public to use caution if they see the trio and to contact state police at Lamar with information pertaining to the robbery at 726-6000.
