Authorities arrested three people after someone shot at a McKeesport police officer early today.

Dana Hall, 18, of Homewood, is charged with aggravated assault, attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, theft, receiving stolen property and conspiracy. He faces additional firearms charges.

Andre Whitley, 19, of Homewood, and Deasia Burgess, 19, of East Liberty, are each charged with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and conspiracy.

The officer who was shot at was one of several who responded to a complaint about a theft in progress on Bowman Avenue at 3:40 a.m., said Lt. Andrew Schurman of the Allegheny County Police.

The three were trying to remove wheels from a vehicle and were found hiding in a nearby car by a K9 officer, police said. There was evidence of theft inside the vehicle as well as an AK-47-style assault rifle used to fire at the officer, Schurman said.
