CHESTER – Three people are in custody after allegedly firing several rounds near a local bar at Rose and Madison streets this morning.

Police nabbed the trio after a short chase onto I-95, according to Capt. Anita Amaro.

The incident began at approximately 1:40 a.m. when someone inside of a purple Jeep Cherokee fired several shots in the area of Rose and Madison streets near Ess’s Bar.

Witnessed told police that someone inside of the vehicle “shot up the area” before taking off. Police responded and located the Jeep, but the driver allegedly refused to stop. With police in pursuit, the driver of the Jeep allegedly drove through several stop signs before driving onto I-95.

Once on the highway, the occupants of the jeep threw suspected drugs and a weapon out of the window, Amaro said.

The Jeep was eventually pulled over and two men and a juvenile were taken into custody.

Brian Fitzgerald Jr., and Anthony Lamar Johnson, 22, are currently awaiting arraignment. The name of the juvenile was not released. Charges and bail information was not immediately available.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, which remains under investigation.
