Police continue to search for a 16-year-old boy who they say ran off after shooting a 7-year-old last week at Hunter’s Ridge apartments in Redstone Township in Fayette County.

State police charged Deago Lee Eddings, 16, of Murray Avenue, Uniontown, as an adult.

According to an arrest warrant, the teen faces charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and firearms violations.

In an affidavit of probable cause, police say that three juveniles were interviewed at the scene on July 3, when police were called to a report of a boy shot in the chest.

The three juveniles told police they were playing and wrestling when the victim said to Eddings, “You don’t even have a gun.”

Police said Eddings pulled a silver or gray gun from his bag and said, “This is what I have.”

Police said he then cocked the gun and pointed it at the boy, shooting him once. Eddings then fled, police said.

Fayette County District Attorney Jack Heneks advised police to charge Eddings as an adult.

Joy Ryan, 58, of Brownsville said her grandson, Ammare Williams, was struck by a bullet that hit his right shoulder then traveled into his spine.

“I cannot say what happened because I was not there,” she said. “I’m not going to go with hearsay.”

Her grandson is “doing much better.” He’s able to move his hands and can even play Wii, she said.

He has feeling in his legs and is undergoing therapy to walk, Ryan said. Her family doesn’t yet know when he’ll be released from the hospital.

“I have faith in God, and with God everything is possible,” Ryan said. “I know he’s going to walk out of the hospital.”

Ryan said she knows Eddings and that he’s a friend of the family.

Eddings is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and was last seen wearing black shorts and black-and-red Air Jordan shoes.

He is known to frequent the Brownsville and Uniontown areas.
