Reading Eagle
An 18-year-old Reading man was shot in an arm in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street on Thursday afternoon, and several hours later police were searching for a juvenile gunman, investigators said.
The victim got into an argument with the juvenile in the block shortly after 3 when the juvenile pulled out a small-caliber handgun and fired at least two shots, police said. One bullet went through one of the man's arms.
The gunman fled east on Chestnut Street, and the victim got into a car with his girlfriend and drove to Nicolls and Robeson streets, where he called 9-1-1, police said.
Police and an ambulance responded. The man was taken to Reading Hospital, where he was treated, officials said.
Police did not comment on the nature of the dispute or say if the two know each other.
Several people were taken in for questioning. Police later identified the gunman, who they said is a juvenile. They did not reveal his age.
Police still were looking for him late Thursday.
