An Allentown man was armed with a semiautomatic rifle while attempting to rob the 7-Eleven on Mickley Road this morning in Whitehall Township, police say.
Joseph John Fugazzotto, 31, of Daniel Street in the city, fled the convenience store without any money, Whitehall Township police say.
He then returned to his vehicle, where police took him into custody, authorities say. No one was hurt in the store, police say.
Fugazzotto was charged today with robbery-related charges as well as recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court records.
He is in Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $40,000 bail, records say.
