Allegheny County police are investigating a slaying late Monday in McKeesport in which a gunman fired through the victim’s front door, killing him.
Jabar Ford, 20, was in his home on Coursin Street in McKeesport with family members when he heard a knock at the door just after 11 p.m., Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said.
Ford got up to answer and asked who it was when someone fired a single shot through the door, striking Ford in the chest, Schurman said. Investigators believe the gunman fled on foot.
Ford died at UPMC McKeesport, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Detectives are trying to determine if Ford was the intended target of the gunman, Schurman said. Police are investigating if ongoing neighborhood disputes are a factor in the shooting, he said.
