PORT MATILDA - Charges are pending against a 14-year-old boy who last week shot a 14-year-old girl with a BB gun, state police at Philipsburg said Sunday.
The girl, who was shot Thursday when a group of teenagers gathered Thursday afternoon in an apartment on the 100 block of South High Street, was initially taken by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment, then flown by helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She has returned home, police said.
Police said the 14-year-old boy was recklessly handling the BB gun which belonged to the apartment's tenant, and at one point, he pointed the gun at the girl and pulled the trigger, shooting her in the neck.
The other teenagers at the apartment came to the girl's aid and attempted to stop the bleeding, police said.
