A teenager was shot and killed Monday in South Philadelphia's Point Breeze section, authorities said.
The unidentified victim, who was 16, was found lying at 19th and Federal Streets about 3:30 p.m. Monday, police said. He was shot in the head, chest, and leg.
The gunman apparently walked up to the teenager and fired five shots, investigators said.
Acting on a tip about 21/2 hours after the shooting, police found a 9mm handgun stuffed in an Adidas track jacket under a car about two blocks from the crime scene. Shell casings found at the scene also came from a 9mm gun, authorities said.
Police declined to comment on a motive in the incident and had not located any eyewitnesses.
Three other shootings have been reported in the area in the last week, police said.
