Three people shot Tuesday night in York City escaped serious injury, according to police, who said detectives are looking into whether the violence was connected with Sunday's early-morning shooting of a woman in the parking lot of Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
Shots rang out in the 100 block of Stevens Avenue about 6:50 p.m., police said.
Struck in the right shoulder was James Abney Jr., 26, of the 200 block of East Cottage Place, according to Lt. Tim Utley, who supervises York City's detective bureau.
Also shot was Destine Callistro, 18, of the 100 block of Stevens Avenue, and a 17-year-old boy who lives in the first block of North Hartman Street, Utley said.
Callistro was shot in the left arm, he said, while the juvenile was shot in the jaw.
A small-caliber round broke the skin at the teen's jaw, but fragmented without penetrating into his face, according to Utley.
Released: Both Callistro and Abney were treated and released from York Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. The teen's condition could not be obtained.
Utley said the shooting happened on Stevens Avenue near the corner of North Pershing Avenue. At the time, both Callistro and the teenager were about three-quarters of a block away, he said.
Detectives believe the shooting involved members of the city's Parkway and south-side "crews," or neighborhood gangs, Utley said.
Connected? The lieutenant also confirmed detectives are investigating to see if Tuesday's shooting is connected to the 3 a.m. Sunday shooting of Glenniece Banks, 31, of York City.
She was shot in the head during a fight in the Five Guys parking lot at 720 Loucks Road, police have said; it appears Banks was not involved in that fight.
She was critically injured and remains in York Hospital, police said.
It's the second time this summer Abney's been shot.
He was shot in the back about 1:20 a.m. July 4 outside Ultraviolet's bar at 370 Kings Mill Road, police have said. A second man, Kevin Thomas of North Tremont Street, was shot in the shin, police said.
Looking for tips: As police investigated the shootings on Tuesday night, a number of people gathered nearby looked on.
Some said they were Callistro's relatives and tried to cross a police line to get closer to the scene.
Officers told them she'd been taken to the hospital and guided them outside the scene.
