WASHINGTON: City store robbed at gunpoint

A Washington cellphone store was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon.

Washington police Officer Kent Mitchell said a man wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt entered the Jefferson Wireless store, 1052 Jefferson Ave., about 3 p.m.

“He had the hood up when he came into the store,” Mitchell said. “He walked up to the counter and told the clerk not to be scared. When she asked why she would be scared, he pulled out a gray handgun.”
