On May 5, CeaseFire PA's Board President and Executive Director sent the following letter to FOP President John McNesby.
Dear President McNesby,
On behalf of CeaseFirePA, we write to express our deep sorrow and sympathy at the senseless murder of Philadelphia Police Sergeant Stephen Liczbinski on Saturday.
The officer, his family, his friends, and every man and woman in the Philadelphia Police Department will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Every murder and act of gun violence is one too many in our City and in our Commonwealth, but the fatal shooting of a police officer, in the line of duty, strikes a blow at our very core, at the bonds of civility and decency that hold our society together.
CeaseFirePA will continue to stand with law enforcement across Pennsylvania in the fight for stronger, common-sense handgun safety laws to protect our police and our citizens from the all-too-real threats posed by illegal handguns and gun violence.
Please accept this $1,000.00 check, made payable to the Fraternal Order of Police TIPS Fund, as part of the reward fund leading to the arrest of the killer of Officer Liczbinski.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Phil Goldsmith, Board President
Joe Grace, Executive Director
