NORTHVIEW HEIGHTS (PITTSBURGH), PA - A community this size facing the perils that it faces needs protection. We believe that giving a voice back to the people and residents will ultimately bring unity and will allow people to grow together. Once we unite, we can all access the resources that our families need to grow and be healthy. Every day we see the positive impact that we're having on the community and we look forward to a brighter day."
From the organizers: "Drugs and guns have killed so many people in our community that it's staggering. It's a bigger issue than Northview Heights and CeaseFirePA is helping us to reach out to all the communities that are also suffering."

PITTSBURGH, PA - The mission of East Liberty Concerned Citizens Corporation/Larimer Blueprint Commuity is to improve individual and community self-esteem by providing or supporting programming that is designed to empower and improve in any way existing conditions within Allegeny County. A specific emphasis is placed on public safety, among other sub-categories, and eliminating gun violence falls squarely under public safety.
From the organizers: "We've been dealing with issues of public safety for 28 years. We designed & incorporated Operation Hammer, which we distributed to citizens who wanted to anonymously report crime. When I watched a 16-year-old boy, my neighbor, lay down right in front of me and die in the street after being shot by an AK-47, I felt like we needed to be more directly involved in preventing and addressing gun violence. CeaseFirePA is a worthy organization doing something about gun violence and all of the issues that surround it--it's a good partnership for us."

From the organizers: "We are students from Reading High School who came together to form a new kind of family; a family aiming to stop violence in our school and in our community. CHESTER, PA - Brothers of Concern is dedicated to ending violence in our community. One of the most effective ways to do that is by getting men involved in the lives of our youth and young adults. Brothers of Concern trains volunteers to be agents of change in their communities. They provide leadership for youth, mentoring for troubled kids, and help steer young people in the direction of community programs that can bring positive change to their lives in order to help them flourish, and be positive role models themselves, for their peers and the next generation.
From the organizers: "Our goal is to get local men involved in taking leadership roles in the community. By doing this it will help rid our neighborhoods of violence and drugs, getting those responsible off the streets and into programs that will help them get off the street corners and transform them into law abiding, employable citizens."
