Two days ago we asked you to contact your U.S. Rep. to ask for a YES vote on an appropriations amendment that would increase funding for NICS (the national background check system) and help states get more records into that system. Your response in emails, calls, tweets and FaceBook posts, was unbelievable. As a result of your work, one of the six cosponsors was PA Republican Mike Fitzpatrick and almost the entire PA delegation voted YES.
Those 16 PA votes became a critical part of the 259 yes votes that propelled the amendment to passage. Here’s the breakdown:
YES: Lou Barletta, Robert Brady, Matt Cartwright, Charlie Dent, Mike Doyle, Chaka Fattah, Mike Fitzpatrick, Jim Gerlach, Mike Kelly, Pat Meehan, Tom Marino, Tim Murphy, Joe Pitts, Keith Rothfus, Allyson Schwartz, Glenn Thompson.
NO: Scott Perry
Did Not Vote: Bill Shuster
We’ll be sending thank yous to all who voted YES. And we hope you do, too.
That feeling of giving it all you have and getting what you want, that’s winning. We want and need more of that. Let’s keep it up!
