Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is starting a new grassroots network called Everytown for Gun Safety to organize voters on gun violence prevention. In Philadelphia, a coalition of gun violence prevention advocates and antiviolence groups, including CeaseFirePennsylvania, hosted an event at City Hall to launch the new organization here.

The network includes the members of the existing groups Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. At the launch event, CeaseFirePA also spoke out against gun violence.

Mayor Nutter expressed frustration with inaction in Washington on the issue, saying, “This is literally a life-and-death circumstances. We’ve had enough death. I want more life.”
