A letter published in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette expresses frustration with House Bill 2011, and, more generally, our elected officials’ apparently mixed-up priorities.
Gene Watson notes that HB 2011, “which seeks to block any local requirement to report lost and stolen firearms,” is designed and endorsed by the NRA. He also questions whether our politicians have our best interests in mind:
“As long as we have a political system where our elected officials are more concerned with being re-elected than they are with doing the right thing, special interest groups like the NRA will continue to direct public policy at the public’s expense. The only solution to this problem would be term limits, but since the powers that be will never allow this to happen, it’s time to take matters into our hands and ‘vote the bums out of office’ after one term.”
