“HonorWithAction,” a youth summit organized by twenty-five members—including two teenage girls whose younger brother was at Sandy Hook Elementary on December 14, 2012—is taking place at Newtown High School tomorrow from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M.

Bear Nikitchyuk was unharmed, thanks to a teacher who pulled him and another student inside her classroom, but Tallie and Ellie still believe it’s their responsibility to lobby for common-sense firearms legislation.

The event will include seminars meant to foster healing, promote mental health advocacy, and coalition-building. International author and speaker Ishmael Beah, of Sierra Leone, will give the keynote address. He volunteered to come to Newtown for the summit.

“Some 16 speakers, including parents of Sandy Hook victims and survivors, will help lead workshops intended to encourage the teens with their advocacy and journeys of healing,” writes Nanci G. Hutson.
