The news about today’s school shooting in Newtown, CT, is gut-wrenching and impossible to comprehend.

More than two dozen children and others have died in this unbelievable tragedy. I know the entire CeaseFirePA community stands together in sending our condolences to the victims and their families.

But words of sympathy are not enough. This is a national tragedy, and our response must be to hold all of our leaders — local and national — accountable for putting a stop to gun violence.

Please take a moment and add your name to our card for the families and victims, and pledge to continue putting pressure on leaders to act to prevent more gun deaths.

As a group of citizens dedicated to creating safer communities and stronger gun laws, we have a role to play in showing elected officials that we will not tolerate inaction any longer.

In the coming days and weeks, CeaseFirePA will continue to work with our community to keep pressure on elected officials to demand a plan to prevent future tragedies.

And as we work with our leaders to pursue real solutions, I hope we all keep our ou

trage and emotions from today with us and commit to always remember all of the victims of gun violence whose lives we commemorate in our work.

We’ll deliver your names to elected officials in Connecticut, Washington D.C., and here in Pennsylvania — demanding real solutions. Add your name to the condolence card and pledge to keep pressure on our leaders:
