A shooting that occurred early Thursday at Florida State University’s Strozier Library has left three people wounded and the gunman dead. According to authorities, the shooter approached the library shortly after midnight and opened fire. His identity has not been released.

“David Northway, a spokesman for the Tallahassee Police Department, the department leading the investigation, said that when confronted near the entrance of the library, the gunman had fired at university police officers, who fired back and killed him,” writes The New York Times‘s Kenneth Rosen.
