Team: Community Liason, Firearm Suicide Prevention
Jonathan Gomez
Community Liason, Firearm Suicide Prevention
As CeaseFirePA’s Community Liaison for Firearm Suicide Prevention, Jonathan Gomez leads outreach and engagement efforts across the Poconos, with a primary focus on Monroe, Carbon, Wayne and Pike Counties. A U.S. Army veteran and former Forward Observer, Jonathan brings hard-earned insight into the realities of trauma, resilience, and recovery. His years of service—both overseas and at home—shaped a lifelong commitment to protecting and uplifting others.
Drawing from his experience as a coach, mentor, and father, Jonathan works directly with community members, veterans, and families to break the silence surrounding suicide by firearm. He builds trust in spaces where discussions about loss, access, and prevention can be difficult, helping residents find hope and connection before a crisis occurs.
Jonathan’s approach blends lived experience with compassion and action. He partners with local organizations, schools, and veteran networks to ensure that prevention efforts reach those who need them most, while elevating the voices of survivors and loved ones who remind us why this work matters.
When he’s not out in the community, Jonathan can be found coaching youth wrestling, creating stories and music that inspire perseverance, or spending time with his wife and three children —always guided by the belief that every life saved begins with one honest conversation.
