Wrestling teaches resilience, accountability, and perseverance — lessons that extend far beyond the mat. The Beyond the Mat Classic harnesses those lessons to spark meaningful conversations, strengthen community awareness, and empower families across Northeast Pennsylvania with life-saving knowledge, resources, and tools to prevent suicide and safeguard one another.

The CeaseFirePA Education Fund is hosting this event in collaboration with local partners as part of its Firearm Suicide Prevention work. In Pennsylvania, suicide involving a firearm remains a serious and often unspoken issue, particularly in rural communities. This initiative focuses on equipping communities with clear, practical tools that help families recognize warning signs, have direct conversations, and reduce risk during moments of crisis.

The Beyond the Mat Classic brings that work into a space people already trust. In addition to competition, the event will connect families with local mental health organizations, survivor support groups, and age-appropriate resources.
