Public Health Partnerships Coordinator

April W. Smith, MPH is CeaseFire PA’s Public Health Partnerships Coordinator.  She got interested in gun violence prevention when she taught in the public schools of Reading and Philadelphia and saw how almost every student had been personally affected, damaging their ability to learn and develop their full potential.  She holds a Masters in Public Health from Thomas Jefferson University and a BA in History from Yale University.  Prior to coming to CeaseFire PA, April worked for over twenty years with nurses’ and doctors’ organizations on issues such as safe staffing and healthcare quality improvement.  She lives in West Philadelphia with her black rescue cat Loviefluffy, and enjoys photographing flowers and volunteering at a cat rescue.
